CWI High Volume Water Purification System I

cwi-1

The CWI High Volume Water Purification System is the perfect water system high volume disaster needs or for towns where the municipal water supply is "suspect". The system is portable and light weight and easier transportable system can be powered by electricity produced from gas, diesel, propane generators during emergencies, or by municipal electricity if available. It will produce enough clean drinking water to fill an average sized swimming pool in a day and a half. Water purity meets international standards for quality; test results available. The system provide safe water for 15,000 people per day. Item 10

The First Responder Clean Water System is simply the best portable water purification system available anywhere.   This system comes housed in an easy to carry Polyethylene case with a one piece detachable lid which allows easy access to every component.

The First Responder Clean Water System is a ten stage mobile water purification system designed for rapid deployment by the Military, National Guard, Humanitarian Relief Organizations or Service Clubs in response to certain or questionable concerns about the purity of drinking water for a neighborhood, community, or village in the event of any disaster whether it be domestic or international, man-made or natural.

This system provides hundreds, even thousands of desperate people with drinking water free of contaminants, free of tannins, nitrates and arsenic.  Not only is the water safe, but it tastes great, too.

This state of the art system can act as a stand alone if there is a source of water pressure, or it can be powered by either a gasoline powered pump or a solar powered pump.

The gasoline powered pump is a 17 GPM gas pump and includes a 6 foot suction hose with fittings.  This gas pump is rated (pumping 10 to 12 hours a day) to pump 6,000 gallons of pure, clean water a day, enough for 12,000  to 15,000 people.  Varying conditions may either increase of decrease production.

The solar powered pump is complete with a controller and twin pole mounted panel solar array. The array comes with its own pole mounting system so you don’t have to be concerned with where to put the panels. This solar pump is rated (pumping 10 to 12 hours a day) to pump 3,000 gallons of pure, clean water a day, enough water for over 5,000 thirsty people.  Varying conditions may either increase of decrease production.

As a First Responder this Clean Water System is designed to filter some of the nastiest waters pulled from lakes, ponds, rivers, creeks, well water, stored water or standing ground flood water.

Each First Responder System comes with extra sets of filters so that it will keep producing clean drinking water over and over.

The filtering process begins with getting the large particles of sediment out of the water before the introduction of chlorine.   The pleated sediment filter is reusable after being thoroughly washed.  Next the chlorine is introduced and while the chlorine is killing the harmful bacteria and unwanted microorganisms too long to list, the metals are removed from the water (lead, iron, manganese and so on).  Then the chlorine is removed by dual carbon filters that polish the water so there are no fowl tastes or odors.  The next stage removes any organic tannins, nitrates, and arsenic.  There is a special filter cartridge for each.  Everyday arsenic is found in more and more water samples.  Nitrates and other pesticides are also being found at an alarming rate.

The last two stages are designed to filter out the dead microorganisms.  The second to last stage is a 1 micron absolute filter cartridge designed to remove E. Coli, Coliform, Giardia and Cryptosporidium Cycsts, and more.

The final stage of the Clean Water First Responder is a 0.2 micron filter cartridge which filters even things like Schistosomiasi, the second most devastating parasitic disease after malaria.  This filter not only filters the Schistosomiasi, but its eggs as well, ensuring the purity of what is now clean, pure, great tasting water ready for drinking, showering or anything  else you would need clean, pure water for.

Portable toilets and sanitation kits:   Millions of people will be forced to defecate in inappropriate places. With inability to wash their hands and dispose of the feces properly this could lead to many diseases.

There are 9,000 portable toilets in stock at CWI which has biodegradable waste disposable bags and kits. Each kit contains Pail, Top Seat, 100 Bags.

Without kits this is a disease outbreak in the making. Diseases like leptosporosis, meningitis, hepatitis, and AIDS can spread rapidly from exposed stool. Diarrhea, impetigo, ring worm, and other problems can occur, particularly in children who come into contact with feces. Item 38

Areas of Interest

1. Mobile Hospitals
2. Water Production
3. Water/Wastewater Purification
4. Waste Management/Processing
5. Modular/Transitional Housing

1. Mobile Hospitals: We are working with Project HOPE and others to fund Rehabilitation Clinics that can be moved.

Concept: After the first responders depart, the need for medical treatment facilities becomes critical. The MSNI Field Hospital has been designed to meet the short term and long term needs of Haiti.

The MSNIFH: Can be deployed to meet both short term and long term medical treatment needs. Item 225

Rehabilitation Clinics

Purpose:

To establish a Rehabilitation Clinic in Haiti to provide services to those impacted by amputation. The first clinic will be used to provide services and to train in-country providers.

The Building(s):

Two 20 ft x 30 ft Rapid Response Buildings. The Buildings are designed to attach, providing 1,200 sq ft of space. They meet the need for a Class A Building that can be shipped and assembled in Haiti.  After its use at one location, it can be repacked and moved to a new location. This is a facility built with lightweight modular construction that can be containerized for turn-key, on-site assembly. Additional containers  would house all the necessary equipment.

Equipment:

MSNI has agreed to provide the equipment required for this size rehabilitation clinic.  Working with MSNI, Project Support Partners,  will provide recourses to provide any additional equipment.  Plus, resources have offered crutches and other items for Haiti, and this facility. MSNI will screen all donated items to insure that they are appropriate for the program.

Staffing:

MSNI and Project Support Partners will find the most appropriate professional staff for this facility. Several  Universities with physical therapy and rehabilitation programs have been identified. Also, several NGOs have also been asked. .

Program Phases:

Phase I: The focus of Phase I will be to deploy the two buildings and equip them with proper equipment and staff.

Phase II: Provide a Prosthetic capability for the facility. Details to be developed and provided.

Phase III: Continue to deploy Rehabilitation Clinics in various areas in Haiti.

Time Table: April 2010 for the first deployment.

Once funding has be obtained for the two buildings, conclude deployment and assembly within 30 days. Provide the equipment within a reasonable to-be-defined time period.  The time line for Phase II and Phase III will be provided. Item 150

2. Water Production

3. Water/Wastewater Purification .. We have partnered with the provider of PuR and with ONE of the LEADING providers of Water Purification Systems.

Waterbox®  (Item 15) CWI High Volume Water Purification System I both on this page (Item 10)

4. Waste Management/Processing .. We have some short time solutions

5. Modular/Transitional Housing .. We have had developed a workable .. and affordable solution. Plus we are adding a funding package with this

Three Year Transitional Shelters. Each can be repurposed and used by other organizations for future events. 10 x 15 ft is the family size. With Floors. Item 21

Family & Aid Worker House

Residential dwelling /Weather resistant - A family of eight (8) adults or four adults and additional children can occupy the standard sized unit and have enough space to comfortably keep their belongings, perform daily tasks and maintain security and privacy. The sturdy frame and solid wall and roof construction make  a long-term solution, capable of withstanding higher force winds, rain, and other events that occur in tropical locations. The home is warranted for 30 years - the best guarantee available.

Having a clean, dry home helps people perform better during rebuilding, and gives them a more comfortable home to return to after working all day. The RDH has obtained engineered certification that when properly anchored it can withstand up to 150 mile per hour winds and is rated to Seismic D for earthquake resistance. Items 47  87  93
